According to estimates from the Ministry of Finance, online gambling businesses in Brazil generate between BR20 billion and BR30 billion ($5.28 billion) in monthly revenue. This significant turnover highlights the alarming scale of the issue. In August 2024 alone, it was reported that Bolsa Família beneficiaries transferred around BR3 billion to online betting platforms, impacting approximately 5 million individuals, as noted by Brazil’s Central Bank.
