Two organizations, <a href=\"https:\/\/educafro.org.br\/site\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Educafro<\/a> and the M\u00f4nica Pai\u00e3o Trevisan Child and Adolescent Defense Center, have filed a public civil action in S\u00e3o Paulo\u2019s Federal Court, urging sports betting platforms to restrict access for individuals enrolled in the Single Registry (Cad\u00danico) within 90 days. Cad\u00danico is the federal system used to manage social programs like Bolsa Fam\u00edlia. The news broke on May 23 via Folha de S.Paulo\u2019s Painel column.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lawsuit targets the federal government, the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR)\u2014which represents 13 prominent betting operators\u2014and ten betting companies: Bet365, Betano, Betfair, Sportingbet, EstrelaBet, KTO, Superbet, VBET, Novibet, and Betnacional. The groups argue that these entities have failed to prevent access by families in Cad\u00danico, who depend on social welfare funds to address poverty and food insecurity, as reported by Congresso em Foco. This measure, affecting around 20 million families, would use beneficiaries\u2019 CPFs to block access to betting platforms, regardless of the funds\u2019 source.
