New York Sports Betting Revenue Slightly Declines in January 2026

In January 2026, New York’s sports betting industry experienced a slight decline compared to the same period last year, with total wagers amounting to $2.44 billion. According to the New York State Gaming Commission, this figure represents a 1.5% decrease from January 2025 but a 2.6% increase from December 2025.

Despite the dip in handle, gross gaming revenue reached $250.6 million, marking a 1.5% rise over January 2025. However, this monthly revenue was 3.5% lower than December’s total of $259.7 million, resulting in a statewide hold of 10.24% for the month.

FanDuel, operated by Flutter Entertainment, continued to dominate the market, generating $113.7 million in revenue. While this was an improvement over the previous year, it fell short of December’s $120.1 million, which remains the second-highest total recorded in New York. FanDuel processed wagers totaling $875.3 million, yielding a monthly hold of 12.99%.

DraftKings followed as the closest competitor, earning $79.7 million from a handle of $818.3 million, resulting in a hold of 9.74%. Fanatics secured the third spot with $21.5 million in revenue from $223.3 million wagered, representing a 9.63% hold. BetMGM, with a handle of $242.4 million, generated $13.4 million in revenue, producing a hold of 5.53%.

Other notable operators included Caesars, which earned $11.5 million from $160.7 million in bets (7.16% hold), and Rush Street Interactive, with $4.8 million from $52.2 million (9.2% hold). TheScore Bet reported $4.3 million in revenue off $54.1 million wagered, with a hold of 7.95%. BallyBet took $1.7 million on a handle of $17.3 million (9.83%), while Resorts World Bet earned $229,357 from $2.8 million in bets, resulting in an 8.33% hold.
