]]>The collection and application of data will be the main focus of the CAF Research Hub. Given that research has been important in football’s recent progress, CAF made this new tool investment to support its Member Associations and Zonal Unions.
The CAF Research Hub is aimed to provide data-driven insights into African football. Its mission will be to conduct research that informs action, gather evidence for theories relevant to the African context. With the CAF Research Hub we will contribute to developing and disseminating knowledge to our Member Associations and the African football stakeholders.

The Research Hub, which is headed by the CAF Member Associations Division, gives priority to research in football performance, youth football, women’s football, football administration, and medicine.
A unique chance to obtain context-based information will be presented during the second edition of the CAF African Schools Programme, an initiative launched throughout all six Zonal Unions.

The data that is currently available will be used in this pilot project to offer insights into the youth football experience in Africa and the effects of the CAF African Schools Football Championship on the continent.
The CAF Research Hub is a great initiative by CAF. It aims to provide member associations and research institutions on the continent with opportunities to collaborate in conducting African football research. The impact of the Research Hub will be in providing stakeholders in African football with an evidence base to allow the adoption of data driven, context driven capacity building initiative and decision making in African football at all levels of the game.

CAF intends to change its development structures by the end of the first research project phase to offer administrative and sporting services to all Member Associations.
This decision was taken during the period when African football was becoming more and more successful, especially following Morocco’s World Cup victory in Qatar.
