Argentina’s Corrientes Lottery Champions Responsible Gaming Education in Schools

The regulator in Corrientes, Argentina, is taking proactive steps to enhance its responsible gaming efforts by organizing workshops for students and advancing certification processes to ensure higher regulatory standards. The Instituto de Lotería y Casinos de Corrientes (ILCC) is actively expanding its responsible gaming campaign into local educational institutions, aiming to foster awareness among the younger generation. As an integral part of this initiative, the ILCC has been conducting workshops for teenagers, focusing on digital habits and the potential dangers of excessive gaming and gambling. These sessions are designed to engage students through interactive activities that help them recognize risky behaviors, manage their screen time effectively, and understand how online platforms can sometimes promote impulsive play. The most recent workshop took place at the “Padre J. Guido Lucchelli” school in the provincial capital, drawing participation from a diverse group of students.
This educational outreach is carried out in collaboration with the provincial Ministry of Development and its Directorate of Youth, with María José Velozo representing the initiative. The organizers emphasize that fostering an open dialogue about responsible technology use and providing practical prevention tools are central to their strategy. They believe that empowering young people with knowledge is essential to cultivating a responsible gaming culture.
According to the ILCC, these school-based programs are part of a broader effort to promote responsible gaming throughout the province. In addition to workshops, the regulator maintains various tools such as self-exclusion mechanisms, online self-assessment platforms, and awareness campaigns aimed at encouraging informed decision-making among players. These measures reflect a comprehensive approach to gambling prevention and player protection.
