FIFA Bolsters Betting Oversight for 2025 Club World Cup
FIFA has introduced enhanced betting monitoring for the upcoming Club World Cup, set to take place in the United States from June to July 2025.
The initiative, announced to safeguard all 63 matches of the tournament, aims to prevent any form of manipulation. This marks a significant step in ensuring the integrity of what FIFA describes as the largest club tournament in history.
During a recent meeting, FIFA outlined specific measures to track suspicious activities throughout the competition. The organization’s Integrity Task Force, responsible for overseeing integrity across all FIFA events, will debut its new operational framework during the Club World Cup. This task force will focus on identifying and addressing potential irregularities in sports betting, as well as tackling match manipulation, corruption, and other unethical or illegal activities that could undermine the sport’s credibility.
The meeting, held in the United States—the host country for both the Club World Cup and the upcoming World Cup—brought together representatives from various organizations. Attendees included officials from the U.S. Justice Department, the FBI, Interpol, Concacaf, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the Council of Europe, the Copenhagen Group, the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), the United Lotteries for Integrity in Sport (ULIS), and Sportradar. This coalition will enable FIFA to monitor betting markets and match events in real time across all Club World Cup games.

Carlos Schneider, FIFA’s Director of Judicial Bodies, emphasized the collaborative nature of the initiative, stating: “FIFA has joined forces with key organisations to protect all tournaments against match manipulation and address issues related to integrity.” He further noted, “The task force is a collaborative effort between FIFA and the most relevant international integrity stakeholders whose expertise will contribute to safeguarding, promoting and maintaining the integrity of FIFA competitions. It was great to discuss the progress that is being made.” This joint effort underscores FIFA’s commitment to upholding fair play and transparency in its tournaments. FIFA Club World Cup 2025
