São Paulo Terminates Sponsorship with Viva Sorte

São Paulo Futebol Clube and Viva Sorte have mutually terminated their sponsorship agreement, effective April 17th. The partnership, initially agreed upon in 2024, was slated to conclude at the end of the 2026 season. The brand, “Viva Tricolor,” was absent from the team’s jerseys during the recent victory over Santos, signaling the end of the collaboration. The club’s statement confirms the termination, noting the cessation of all associated projects, including a fan-focused product that shared revenue with the club. The official statement reads:

“São Paulo Futebol Clube informs that it has terminated the sponsorship contract with the company Viva Sorte, which printed the brand ‘Viva Tricolor’ on the Club’s uniforms, as of today (17/4). With immediate effect, the brand will no longer appear on the Club’s shirt, and São Paulo will also cease exploitation of the other properties provided for in the agreement. SPFC will take the necessary measures to preserve its interests and guarantee its rights after the end of the partnership.”

Reports suggest a potential conflict of interest as a contributing factor to the split. Viva Sorte, a former partner, launched its own betting platform in January 2024, possibly creating internal issues with the club’s current master sponsor, Superbet. The club intends to pursue the financial penalties outlined in the contract, threatening legal action if a mutually agreeable resolution cannot be reached.

The agreement, estimated at R$45 million, had already yielded R$7.8 million to São Paulo by the end of 2024. The remaining two years of the contract were projected to deliver R$18.6 million annually, meaning São Paulo will lose approximately R$30.8 million due to the termination. This loss is significant, particularly in light of the club’s financial projections and ongoing operations.
