Brazil’s Online Betting Self-Exclusion Program Exceeds 500,000 Participants

Brazil’s national self-exclusion list for online betting has now exceeded 500,000 users, marking a significant milestone. This figure reflects an approximate 8% increase from the 462,000 individuals recorded just a month prior.

The platform, introduced in December 2025 as part of Brazil’s regulated betting landscape, allows users to voluntarily block their access to licensed betting websites for a designated period, ranging from one month up to an indefinite term. According to recent government data, the number of participants continues to climb steadily. In fact, within its first 40 days, the register saw more than 217,000 registrations.

The current total surpasses the half-million mark, emphasizing the growing awareness and utilization of this tool. It applies exclusively to operators licensed within Brazil’s regulated market, ensuring that those who self-exclude are unable to access these betting platforms during their chosen period.

The platform was launched by Brazil’s Secretariat of Prizes and Betting, a division of the federal government, through collaboration between the Ministries of Finance and Health. Users have the flexibility to select the duration of their exclusion, including options for open-ended bans. When registering, individuals may optionally specify their reasons for self-exclusion. The government states that this information is being used to enhance public policies and deepen understanding of gambling-related behaviors.

Officials highlight the register as both a consumer safeguard and a vital public health instrument, part of a broader effort to address gambling-related harm. The system is set to integrate mental health screening and referrals within Brazil’s public healthcare network (SUS), aiming to identify compulsive gambling tendencies and guide users toward specialized treatment.
Brazil’s Universal Health System now provides dedicated telehealth services focused on gambling addiction. These services, available through both public and private healthcare providers, facilitate remote screening and referral processes, ensuring that self-excluded individuals can access expert care when necessary. This approach positions the register as part of a comprehensive support network, not merely a blocking mechanism. Brazil’s Self-Exclusion
