Argentina’s Regulatory Body Names First Vice President of Cibelae for 2025-2027

The Ibero-American association of public gaming authorities from Latin America, Spain, and Portugal has recently reinforced Alea’s influence in regional collaboration efforts. This significant appointment was announced during Cibelae’s Annual Ordinary Assembly held on November 11 in Asunción, Paraguay. It positions Alea as a prominent advocate for regulated and socially responsible gaming practices throughout Ibero-America.
Ida López, President of Alea, expressed her sentiments, stating, “This new role honors us and challenges us to continue strengthening a federal, national, and regional effort, the fight against illegality and the promotion of transparent and responsible gaming.” The recognition underscores the vital role played by Argentina’s state lotteries in fostering a regulated, transparent gaming industry founded on cooperation and best practices.
Following the assembly, the 19th Congress on Lottery Products & Sports Betting is underway in Asunción, uniting regulators, operators, and suppliers from across the region. Alea representatives are actively engaging in various thematic panels. López is delivering a presentation on the sports betting landscape in Latin America, while Santiago Schunk of IAFAS is discussing lottery product development and moderating sessions on point-of-sale evolution and regional lottery products. Carlos Moyano from IAFAS Entre Ríos is also participating in the point-of-sale panel.

Furthermore, Teresita Benítez from IAS Formosa, Carolina Galtieri from LOTBA, and Schunk are addressing topics related to the integration and strengthening of Ibero-American lotteries through standards and best practices for secure, legal, and sustainable gaming. Édgar Pérez from IAS Formosa is presenting on “Lotteries in Action,” and Benítez is moderating a panel focused on digitalization and product innovation within the lottery sector.
